STORYTELLING FAQS

How many children may attend each storytelling session?

We limit our group to 25 children at one time for K – Grade 5.  Preschool groups will be limited to 15 children at one time.  Smaller groups are better.  Our storytelling is interactive and we like to give each child the opportunity to participate.

How long is a storytelling presentation?

Storytelling presentations are 45 minutes.

What is included in the storytelling presentation?

We give the children parts in the story.  They participate by reading along and acting out their character.

Materials and Supplies: Any items needed to attend classes, learn objective, and complete day’s activities will be provided by instructor/Storyland Celebrations including but not limited to those listed below:

  • Props, costumes, and masks will all be cleaned and sanitized after every class. Since these will be used by multiple schools they will be replaced as needed.
  • All reusable supplies (such as: pencils; crayons; etc) and disposable materials (e.g. stickers, name tags).

What if my child doesn’t want to participate?

We will not force any children to participate, but they’ll want to once we get started.

What curriculum/skills/concepts are taught?

Some of what we teach:  NC history – Blackbeard the Pirate. California Gold Rush – The Goldminer’s Daughter. Library Book Care – The Shelf Elf.

All stories are correlated with NC Standard Course of Study, or NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development.
